ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN SERIES SPRING 2011
WORK / ENGAGEMENT / >>
In the fall of 2010, the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago with MAS Studio established an ongoing architecture and urban lecture series with the goal of establishing a cultural connection between the architectural discipline in Europe and the US.
In the second edition of the series, we brought the exhibition “Young Architects of Spain: A Window to the Unknown” which showcased the work of 62 emerging architecture offices in Spain. To accompany the exhibition, Enrique Sobejano, founding partner of Nieto Sobejano Architects, and Antón García-Abril, founding partner of Ensamble Studio, lectured about their work. Both offices are at the forefront of a new generation of Spanish architects with critically acclaimed and award-winning buildings. Completing the program, Studio IDE, Strawn.Sierralta and PORT Architecture + Urbanism, three of the most innovative and active architecture studios in Chicago lead by designers in their early 30s, presented their work and discussed the challenges and opportunities they face.
