Iker Gil has been invited to curate the “Civilização América” program and lecture series as part of the postgraduate program “Geografia, Cidade e Arquitetura” of the Associação Escola da Cidade Arquitetura e Urbanismo. Iker has invited Tom Jacobs, co-managing partner of Krueck Sexton Partners, to co-curate the program.

The program consists of a studio project to develop mixed-use housing in Chicago along the boulevard system as well as a series of lectures. Speakers include Paola Aguirre (Borderless Studio), Andre Brumfield and Brian Vitale (Gensler), Geoffrey Goldberg (G. Goldberg + Associates), Tonika Johnson (photographer/visual artist), Brian Lee, Julie Michiels, and Doug Voigt (SOM), Ann Lui and Craig Reschke (Future Firm), Juan Moreno (JGMA), Lina Reiff and Andrew Vesselinovitch (Ross Barney Architects), Marcelo Ribeiro (professor), Mauricio Sanchez (Studio Gang), David Schalliol (sociologist and photographer), and Gustavo Utrabo (Studio Gustavo Utrabo). Iker lectured at the Escola da Cidade on May 16, 17, and 18, 2022 as part of the program.
