35th Street Metra Station
A new station that creates a new public plaza
Located at the intersection of 35th Street and Federal Street in Chicago, this station serves the IIT students, US Cellular Field, local workers, and neighborhood residents. It also strengths the transit corridor on 35th Street that already includes two CTA stops.
The station, located 18 feet above street level, creates a new public plaza at ground level. The series of ramps and stairs share landings to offer multiple ways of accessing the track level. Circulation becomes an experience. Poured concrete ramps and walls, stainless steel handrail and depots, and permeable pavers are the chosen materials for the project.
