Architecture and Urban Series | Fall 2010
First edition of the architecture and urban lecture series focused on Spain
In the fall of 2010, the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago along with MAS Studio established an ongoing architecture and urban lecture series with the goal of establishing a cultural connection between the architectural discipline in Europe and the US.
In its first edition, Ibon Areso, architect and Deputy Mayor of Bilbao, and Belinda Tato, partner of the architecture office Ecosistema Urbano, presented the urban transformations of Bilbao and Madrid respectively. Those cities were chosen due to the fact that, along with Barcelona, they were selected to be part of the Expo 2010 Shanghai China within the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) to exhibit their urban transformations.
